About Toperic
Toperic is an independent publication focused on one thing: helping outdoor people buy gear they won't regret. Whether you're commuting by bike, pitching a tent for the weekend, or heading out for a day hike, the right equipment makes the trip — and the wrong stuff ruins it.
The outdoor gear market is crowded, and marketing claims are louder than ever. We cut through the noise with structured, honest evaluations of the gear people actually use on roads, trails, and campsites.
How we evaluate gear
- Research, not press releases. Our guides are built on careful research into specifications published by manufacturers, documented features, and aggregated rider, camper, and hiker feedback.
- Pros and cons, always. Every guide lists concrete drawbacks alongside strengths. A guide without criticism isn't a guide.
- Who it's for (and isn't for). The best gear depends on how you ride, camp, or hike. We say clearly which users will benefit and which should look elsewhere.
- Up-to-date pricing context. We describe pricing in general terms and always point you to the vendor's official page or retailer listing for current rates — prices change often in outdoor retail.
How we make money
Toperic is reader-supported. When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. This never influences our recommendations — our affiliate disclosure has the full details.
Who's behind Toperic
Mark Chen, Outdoor Gear Editor. Mark covers cycling, camping, and hiking equipment — researching specs, comparing options, and writing about the gear that holds up on real trails and roads. His guides focus on practical fit: who a product helps, where it falls short, and whether it's worth your money.
Toperic launched in October 2026 as an independent, reader-supported publication. We have no investors and no sponsored rankings — our only boss is the reader.
